So now I'm officially crazy, I think!
Finally, after weeks of changing my mind back and forth, I began taking Judo classes with my son on Monday night. I would've written about my experience yesterday but my arms were too sore. I most definitely have a new-found respect for Devlin. This kid loves taking judo, he takes 4 90-minute classes per week! I started out OK on Monday, but it didn't last. The class is basically a 45-minute workout followed by 45 minutes of instruction (on holds, throws, defense, etc.) The workout part destroyed me. Now, I did NOT think that I was in particularly good shape, but I didn't think I was in terrible shape. Unfortunately for me, I was, in fact, in terrible shape. I tired very quickly but pushed on. I couldn't give up in front of the kid. So now, I have pain in muscles that I didn't even know I had, and I tore up my elbow pretty good. Just to show off in front of the kid. Competitive much?? You bet. I hope I feel better by tonight because class starts at 7:30, and I will be there. Even if it kills me. Which it very well may.

!Rank Up!
So now all is said and done in my son's Judo class. He passed his test and got his yellow belt. I am so proud of him, he did a wonderful job. He was extremely nervous beforehand, insistent that he would forget everything. He didn't, obviously. His strikes and kicks were clean, his falls were correct and his throws were perfect. He even nailed the hard one, *Morote Seonage*
It was nice seeing how happy he was. And it just got better. After the belts were given out, his Sensei told the class that he had two very special awards to give out, for being top-notch students, basically. The students who gave 110% got this award. Guess who got it? Yea, you got it.. MY kid. Awesome. His best friend, who he brought into the class, got the other award. They both definitely deserve it. I'm really proud of them.
So uh, that's all I gotta say now. Hopefully I'll have something interesting to say again sometime soon. Til then, ciao
